The Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA) is the country’s foremost advocate for solar and energy storage solutions.
As a non-profit alliance of industry leaders, we work closely with government and private stakeholders to shape progressive energy policies and accelerate the shift to clean, reliable power.
PSSEA serves as a unifying platform for collaboration, advocacy, and innovation across the solar and storage value chain.
PSSEA in the Media | Solar and Battery Capacity Could Grow 73-Fold by 2050 ☀️🔋
Solar and battery capacity in the Philippines could grow by around 73 times its current level by 2050, according to BloombergNEF. But as renewable energy deployment accelerates, grid capacity and transmission infrastructure will be critical to turning this potential into reliable power.
In a Power Philippines report, PSSEA Chairperson Maria Theresa “Tetchi” Capellan highlighted the challenge facing renewable energy expansion, noting that generation without adequate transmission can result in stranded investments. The report also highlights how distributed solar paired with battery storage could help ease grid constraints, improve resilience, and support reliable electricity supply across the country.

HAPPENING NOW: PSSEA Chairperson Maria Theresa “Tetchi” Capellan opened the event by highlighting the growing role of floating solar in the Philippines and its potential to complement, rather than compete with, food production through aquaculture.
She also marked two important milestones for the industry: the development of the 250-MW floating solar project in Ilagan and the planned 1-GW floaters manufacturing facility, strengthening the Philippines’ potential role in the global floating solar industry.
As Tetchi shared: “The next terawatt will no longer be ground-mounted; it will be solar on roof and solar on water.”
A strong reminder that the next phase of solar deployment will require innovation, investment, and new ways of using our land and water resources.

Financing Distributed Solar and Storage: From Capital to Scale ⚡☀️🔋
How can ASEAN move from growing distributed solar and storage markets to bankable, scalable investments?
On 6 October 2026, the ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF) session “Financing Distributed Solar and Storage: Innovative Pathways to Achieve Scale in ASEAN” brought together industry leaders, financiers, investors, development partners, and policymakers to explore practical financing pathways for distributed energy.
PSSEA President Ping Mendoza delivered the welcome remarks, highlighting the importance of collaboration and investment in accelerating distributed solar and storage across the region.
The session featured:
• Shantanu Jaiswal, BloombergNEF – rooftop solar growth, grid pressures, and storage
• Luisa Rust, Austrade – clean energy investment opportunities
• Jouy Araja, BPI – innovative solar lending
• Atty. Jason C. Teng, GSIS – the Ginhawa Solar Energy Loan Program
• Puon Penn, Hyfin – aggregating distributed projects for institutional finance
• Jigar Arvindbhai Bhatt, ADB – technical assistance and concessional finance
• Carlos Munoz, SunFund – customer financing and EPC partnerships
• Jeric James Pernitez, ATRAM Trust, and Bui Thi Nham, XSolar Energy – finance and distributed solar perspectives
• John Rockhold, Vietnam Power Energy Working Group, and Marlistya Citraningrum, IESR – rooftop solar, regulation, and market development
PSSEA General Manager Mayet Pantastico closed the session, emphasizing that scaling distributed energy requires more than capital. Enabling policies, strong partnerships, market confidence, and coordination across the energy ecosystem are equally important.
The key message: financing the energy transition means building the policies, markets, partnerships, and systems that make distributed solar and storage scalable and investable.

FROM INSIGHTS TO ACTION: FINANCING THE ENERGY TRANSITION ⚡☀️🔋
As the ASEAN Energy Business Forum session “Financing Distributed Solar and Storage: Innovative Pathways to Achieve Scale in ASEAN” concluded, PSSEA General Manager Mayet Pantastico highlighted three priorities: mobilize capital, build bankable markets, and scale distributed solar and storage.
The discussion underscored that finance alone is not enough. Scaling will require stronger market infrastructure, better data, risk management, and collaboration among governments, regulators, financial institutions, investors, development partners, and industry.
As Mayet highlighted: “The challenge now is to turn these insights into action: mobilize capital, build bankable markets, and scale distributed solar and storage across ASEAN.”
The conversation continues as PSSEA joins partners and stakeholders at the Philippine Floating Solar Innovation Series & Commitment Ceremony this evening at Conrad Manila.
Together, we can build financing pathways for a more secure, affordable, and sustainable energy future for ASEAN.
