Who We Are

Championing the Future of Clean Energy with PSSEA

The Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA) is the countryโ€™s foremost advocate for solar and energy storage solutions.

As a non-profit alliance of industry leaders, we work closely with government and private stakeholders to shape progressive energy policies and accelerate the shift to clean, reliable power.

PSSEA serves as a unifying platform for collaboration, advocacy, and innovation across the solar and storage value chain.

In an interview with Asian Power, PSSEA Chairperson Maria Theresa โ€œTetchiโ€ Capellan highlighted the need to strengthen the countryโ€™s energy resilience as electricity demand peaks during the summer months.

Capellan emphasized that expanding solar paired with battery energy storage systems can help extend clean energy supply into the evening, reduce dependence on diesel generation during periods of tight reserves, and support a more reliable and resilient power system.

PSSEA continues to advocate for policies that accelerate renewable energy deployment, modernize the grid, and strengthen the country's energy security through greater adoption of solar and energy storage solutions.

PSSEA recently led a roundtable discussion with the Department of Trade and Industry โ€“ Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS) and industry stakeholders to discuss the proposed Department Administrative Order (DAO) on the certification and regulation of solar energy products.

The consultation covered consumer protection, product quality standards, certification pathways, market surveillance, and key industry recommendations to support the continued growth of the Philippine solar sector while ensuring safety and accountability.

Stakeholders are expected to submit their formal recommendations to DTI-BPS by 25 July 2026.

As the Philippine solar industry continues to grow, ensuring product quality, safety, and reliability across the value chain is becoming increasingly important.

The DTI-BPS has released a draft Department Administrative Order (DAO) proposing the mandatory certification of solar energy systems and related components, including solar PV modules, inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), rapid shutdown devices, battery charge controllers, and PV cables.

Given the potential implications for manufacturers, importers, distributors, installers, EPCs, project developers, and consumers, meaningful industry engagement will be essential in shaping a regulatory framework that is both effective and implementable.

PSSEA encourages industry stakeholders and practitioners to review the proposed DAO and share their insights, recommendations, and implementation considerations in the comments.

Constructive dialogue from the sector will help support the development of practical, safety-driven, and industry-responsive standards for the Philippine solar market.
