Jason Soberano

Vice President for Utilities and Board of Trustees

Jason is currently the Vice President and Chief Business Development Officer of SN Aboitiz Power. He leads the business development team in identifying, screening, selecting, developing, and implementing renewable energy projects and other emerging technologies that can be integrated into the company’s existing asset portfolio. Prior to joining SN Aboitiz Power, Jason was the country head of General Electric (GE) Renewable Energy Hydro for the Philippines and Taiwan. He led all commercial activities in these countries and was responsible for the development of go-to-market strategies, market penetration, and customer management. He was also the Market and Business Development Director of GE in the Philippines, based in Manila. He collaborated with and supported all GE businesses to ensure alignment of growth initiatives, priorities, resource allocation, and ownership of key actions and deliverables.

Jason has more than a decade of experience in handling different roles in the energy industry. He has a strong business and technical background, with a proven track record of hands-on experience in business and market development, strategic planning, project management, and engineering, and operations optimization. Before joining GE in 2016, Jason was the head of business development for Equis Funds Group (Equis). He executed several mergers, acquisitions, and project development transactions, propelling Soleq (the solar development arm of Equis) to be the largest solar developer in the country. He is also a founding member of the Confederation of Solar Developers in the Philippines(CSDP), an industry group whose members include solar developers who have completed industry-size solar plants in the country.

Jason was a Manager for Business Development in Energy Development Corporation (EDC) from 2013 to 2015. He project-managed EDC’s pioneer solar plant and several geothermal projects and was responsible for building the pipeline of solar projects for the company. Jason also handled a variety of roles in strategic planning, engineering, and supply chain in Petron, where he stayed from 2004 to 2013. He has a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of the Philippines Diliman and currently taking up his Executive MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
