Jose Rafael “Ping” Mendoza

Ping brings 17 years of experience with over a decade in renewable energy across roles in business development, investments, and stakeholder management leveraging his prior experience in Real Estate. Ping is currently the President and a board member of the industry association Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA), Country Manager of Gurin Energy, a Senior Advisor at Climate Smart Ventures, and co-founder of residential solar tech start-up Yuda.com.ph.

In 2022, he started the renewable energy generation business of Shell in the Philippines by developing a joint venture platform for solar and wind projects which started construction on a 120MW utility scale solar project in the Visayas last 2023. From 2020 to 2022, Ping served as the country manager for Clime Capital, an early-stage climate impact investor focused on solar, wind, storage, energy efficiency and electric vehicles. Between 2015 and 2020, Ping was with AboitizPower’s distribution utilities group working with local governments on investment promotions projects and concurrently appointed the General Manager of APX, the group’s venture into rooftop solar. He started in the solar industry in the fast-growing early days of Solar Philippines in 2014, focused on brand marketing, rooftop solar sales management and land acquisition.

Ping advocates nation-building through technology adoption in sustainable energy and Bitcoin and has been involved in drafting government policy through the National Renewable Energy Board (NREB). Ping holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of the Philippines – Diliman.
