The Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA) and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) formalized a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during the PSSEA Annual General Assembly on 28 July 2026 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria.
The MOU was signed by MMSU President Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr. and PSSEA President Ping Mendoza, with PSSEA Chairperson Maria Theresa Capellan and MMSU-CARE Director Engr. Thomas Ubiña serving as witnesses.
The partnership establishes a framework for collaboration in research, innovation, technical training, and knowledge exchange to accelerate the development and deployment of solar and energy storage technologies in the Philippines. Through this collaboration, PSSEA and MMSU will work together on joint research initiatives, technical studies, industry engagement, and the promotion of best practices that support the country’s clean energy transition.
By combining MMSU’s academic and research expertise with PSSEA’s industry network, the collaboration seeks to strengthen technical competencies, support the development of national standards, and prepare a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the growing demand for qualified solar and energy storage professionals.
PSSEA also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the development of a credible and standards-driven solar workforce, particularly for the rapidly expanding rooftop solar sector.
“Our goal is to help make solar and rooftop solar installers more skilled, credible, and trusted by ensuring they are trained to recognized industry standards. While current training efforts are focused on the technical-vocational level, the growing demand presents an opportunity to expand into higher education. We look forward to working with MMSU faculty to equip professors as trainers who can help build the next generation of solar professionals.”
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to bridging industry and academia to strengthen research, develop talent, and accelerate the adoption of safe, reliable, and high-quality solar and energy storage solutions across the Philippines.
