Quezon City, 3 September 2026 — The Philippine Solar and Storage Energy Alliance (PSSEA) participated in the 3rd Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting of the House Committee on Energy on the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act, continuing discussions on measures to enable consumers to generate and manage their own electricity.
Held on 3 September 2026, the meeting focused on developing a policy framework for Zero Export Renewable Energy Systems (ZERES), building on discussions held by the TWG on 24 and 26 August 2026.
PSSEA engaged in the discussions as an industry stakeholder, contributing perspectives on how the proposed framework can support the practical deployment of self-generation and rooftop solar systems. The Alliance emphasized the importance of simple, clear, and streamlined processes and avoiding unnecessary regulatory barriers that could discourage consumers from adopting distributed renewable energy solutions.
The discussions on ZERES are part of the broader legislative effort under the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act to establish a framework for consumers who want to generate electricity for their own use without exporting power to the grid.
PSSEA continues to engage with policymakers and stakeholders to help develop practical policies that support energy security, affordability, and sustainability, while enabling more households and businesses to access solar energy solutions.
